Albuquerque’s Boards, Commissions, and Committees advise the City Council and Mayor on key issues like housing, transportation, and infrastructure. These groups help shape the policies that influence our city’s future.
At Strong Towns ABQ, we encourage members to apply and get involved. Serving on a board or commission is a great way to advocate for a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable Albuquerque.
Office of Neighborhood Coordination
Neighborhood Associations (NAs) in Albuquerque represent residents, property owners, and businesses, and are open to everyone within their boundaries. With the updated recognition standards, they can now influence local development by receiving project notifications and having the ability to appeal zoning and development changes.
Strong Towns ABQ encourages members to engage with these groups to promote sustainable urban growth, transportation safety, and affordable housing. By participating, you can help shift the conversation in your neighborhood, advocate for change, and work from the ground up to improve Albuquerque’s future. Getting involved offers a chance to make a lasting impact on your community.
While we recognize that this system can sometimes be exclusionary, participating where possible allows us to help make these groups more representative of our community and its true needs. Through involvement, we can advocate for a more inclusive and equitable approach to urban development, ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard in shaping Albuquerque’s future.
