Mission Statement: Strong Towns ABQ advocates for equitable services, housing, transportation, and safety through inclusive, fiscally responsible means, promoting better communities in Albuquerque with sustainable changes and community collaboration.
At Strong Towns ABQ, we work to create a more resilient and equitable Albuquerque by advocating for policies and projects that strengthen our city. Our efforts include:
Housing Advocacy: Supporting abundant, affordable housing through smarter zoning, by-right incremental density, mixed-use development, creative solutions, and community engagement.
Transportation Improvements & safer streets for all: Championing safer streets for all users, better public transit, and infrastructure that prioritizes people over cars.
Ending Highway Expansion: Opposing costly and ineffective highway expansions like the I-25 S-Curve project, we advocate for better investments in public transit, road maintenance, and infrastructure that prioritize people over cars, helping reduce traffic, pollution, and sprawl.
Public Awareness: Hosting events, creating educational materials, and fostering discussions to empower Burqueños to take action.
Local Accountability: Promoting transparency in city funding and decision-making to ensure thoughtful investments in Albuquerque’s future.
Ending Parking Mandates: Advocating for the removal of outdated parking requirements to encourage more housing, better land use, and thriving, walkable neighborhoods.
